Bejaia

 Bejaia is the largest city in Kabylia and a major oil centre of eastern Algeria. "Bougie" (Candle) is the former French name of this port city, which has fuelled the inspiration of the inhabitants of the town located around the terminal of the Soummam pipeline resulting from the Hassi Messaoud drilling, calling it a
"candle flame". Spend three days visiting Bejaia.

Traces of its ancient origins remain in Bejaia, because it was built on the ruins of the ancient city. Walking through the streets of the "Bougie", admire the mosaic in the lobby of City Hall and the remains of the ramparts, cisterns, and other burial places. Those who feel nostalgic for the old city will have something to soothe them at the Kasbah, which houses a series of ruins dating back to the Almohad period, but also its mosque where Ibn Khaldun preached the good news.

The main museum of the "flamme de Bougie" (candle flame) was built in the in the Square of 1^st November. The Bordj Moussa Museum exhibits a collection of prehistoric relics, which are a heritage from Roman and Hafsid times, namely those from the Ali Bacha cave.
